A man lived with the corpse mummified from his mother to be able to collect his pension for six years. The son took advantage of his mother’s pension and even lied so they wouldn’t find out that he had died a long time ago.
The 60-year-old told his neighbors that his mother, named Helga Hengbarthhad returned to his country of origin, Germany, with which he managed to collect around 156,000 euros in the course of the aforementioned years.
But the lie was discovered by the Fire Department and the Police at the beginning of May of this year. The emergency services entered the apartment and discovered the body of the woman.
The body was found wrapped and stored in a body bag which she left lying on her bed, which she had shared with her son while she was alive. The man was not present when the discovery was made, but turned himself in to the police after being discovered.
The Police recalled the repeated attempts they had to contact Helga. The retiree had not claimed her health insurance card even during the pandemic due to the COVID-19 in 2020.
The troops became suspicious and carried out a raid that led to the discovery. Subsequently, an autopsy of the body has been ordered to find out the causes of the death of the woman. The agents do not know how she was able to maintain the lie for so long or how she managed to collect the pension.
The police force has managed to discover that the man collected around 30,000 euros, a total of 360,000 per year.
