Family waited almost 2 years to bury pastor because they believed he would rise from the dead

The body of a South African shepherd was buried almost two years after his death because his relatives and the entire congregation of his faithful decided to keep him in a morgue, thinking that he would rise from the dead. Siva Moodley died on August 15, 2021 in the city of Johannesburg.

Martin’s Fourways and Roodepoort Funeral Home applied to the High Court to bury the pastor’s body after the family failed to claim his body or provide consent for his burial or cremation.

On countless occasions, the morgue tried unsuccessfully to contact the wife Jessie and the sons of moodley to warn them that there would be health and environmental health hazards if they did not dispose of the body, but received no response.

Why didn’t they want to bury him?

According to the court report, Moodley’s wife told the undertaker that she had a vision in which her husband would be resurrected. For this reason, the pastor’s social networks remained active and the church did not publicly acknowledge his death or inform the faithful of his whereabouts.

The leadership of the church continued as usual, with his wife Jessieyour son David And your daughter Kathryn Jade to the head. Neither the wife nor adult children attended the funeral, but Moodley’s siblings and extended family were present.

Another similar case occurred in Zambia when the self-proclaimed prophet sames sakara22-year-old died after asking his followers to bury him alive for 3 days to miraculously resurrect.
