What happens when a tropical wave arrives in Venezuela?
The rainy season is recorded between May and October in Venezuela. Tropical waves touch Venezuelan soil each year with heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some cases. Given this, local authorities have the duty to manage better conditions in vulnerable areas and inform the population about possible risks.
“What happens when the tropical wave arrives in Venezuela? The tropical wave arrives (…) the convergence zone complements these precipitations, therefore, constantly in Inameh we are monitoring. Three tropical waves have formed so far and they are practically heated from the warm waters of the Atlantic and the Caribbean,” explained the president of Inameh, Jose Ramon Pereira.
Can a tropical wave become a tropical cyclone?
In an interview with the state channel VTV, Pereira indicated that a tropical wave can become a tropical cyclone if it meets the waters of the Caribbean Sea with temperatures above 29 °C.
“When it turns counterclockwise and reaches winds of over 40 kilometers per hour, it can become a cyclone,” emphasized the representative of the institute.
