A plainclothes policeman took the law into his own hands after being the victim of an attempted robbery in Moreno, Argentina. The agent was traveling aboard his motorcycle with his girlfriend, when suddenly two thieves on linear motorcycles appeared.
One of the criminals got out of the vehicle to approach the agent who was dressed in civilian clothes. At that moment, the thief forced them to get off the motorcycle threatening them with a weapon, which was later established to be two welded pipes; this to then get on and escape with his accomplice.
The policeman drew his gun and fired at the thief.
The policeman, who was at a prudent distance between the two thieves, did not hesitate to take out his weapon and shoot at the ranked assailant. The subject immediately got out of the vehicle and tried to escape with an injured leg, while his accomplice fled the scene aboard one of the linear motorcycles used for the assault.
The event occurred on Sunday, at 8:32 p.m., at the corner of Lugones and Payró streets, where the victims were riding a motorcycle. The thief fell dead a few meters from the scene, with four bullets.
The policeman was detained by the authorities.
In the next few hours, it will be determined if the agent acted correctly or if he exceeded himself in legitimate defense. According to judicial sources, he is a 31-year-old sergeant who works in the Ituzaingó Local Prevention Police. The policeman was arrested for the crime of “aggravated homicide by the use of a firearm and being effective of a security force.”
