Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro congratulated recep Tayyip Erdoğan for claiming his victory in the second round of the Turkish presidential elections this Sunday, May 28. The result confirms his permanence in power after 20 years in command of the country.
Through Twitter, Maduro wrote the following message: “Venezuela celebrates the victory of our brother and friend Erdogan, who was victorious in the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey. We congratulate the Turkish people for this victory, wishing to continue working together to build the new world. Long live Türkiye!”
After counting 98% of the votes, erdoğanat the head of the Justice and Development Party (AKP, an Islamoconservative), reached 52.1% of the vote, compared to 47.9% for his rival, the Social Democrat Kemal Kiliçdaroglu.
