rehan statona 24-year-old North American, has become an example of self-improvement after sharing his story of perseverance to graduate from the Harvard Law School. He worked as garbage collector and helped his family financially.
The young man was raised alone by his father after his mother abandoned them when he was a child. His father worked hard to support him and his older brother. However, as he grew older, the young man was forced to give up his studies to dedicate himself to earning money.
“My dad lost his job at one point and had to start working three jobs to support us. It got to the point where I could barely see my father and a lot of my childhood was very lonely,” she said. Staton.
His story of overcoming
Staton used to dream of becoming a professional boxer after graduating high school, but a double shoulder injury during his senior year dashed his dreams.
Despite the odds, he managed to apply to the prestigious university while working as a garbage collector. His colleagues, who were all ex-convicts, and the son of the company owner saw the potential in him and Helped you submit your application for one of the most prestigious universities in the world.
“It was the first time in my life that people encouraged me because of who I am and not because I was good at sports,” the young man told CNN. He added: “My whole life all the people I was supposed to look up to were the ones who always put me down and made me feel bad about myself.”
His story was told in The Washington Post in 2020 after being accepted into the Harvard Law Schoolwhich provided him with financial support through some people who had been moved by his case, including actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry helped cover Staton’s tuition.
After years later, Staton is about to graduate and will start working at a law firm in the city of NY.
Magazine essence explained that the young man has co-founded a non-profit organization called The Reciprocity Effect. With this, he seeks to reward support staff at Harvard, including janitors, electricians and food service workers.
“They weren’t getting the recognition they deserved for helping the school run smoothly,” Staton said.
Similarly, as a token of appreciation, he bought 100 Amazon gift cards to give to the school’s support staff, using his savings from his summer associate job at a law firm.
