She went to visit him to deliver a document that came to him, according to the BÃo BÃo Chile portal. The last time she saw him was in September 2021. The event occurred in the city of Antofagasta and has outraged the elderly’s neighbors.
The preliminary report indicates that the man would have died 12 months ago. The examination carried out determined that there is no involvement of third parties, however, they still do not specify the cause of death.
“The victim lived alone at this address and was found by relatives who had not seen him for several months (…) we are waiting for the result of the medical-legal expert opinion to thus establish the cause of death of this person,” said José Cáceres, head of the La Serena PDI Homicide Brigade.
On the other hand, the same niece indicated that in December of last year she went to his house to leave Christmas gifts for him and since he did not find it, he left them there. She then came back after a few months and saw through the window that her gifts were the same as she had left them.
“Sometimes in older people the deterioration can come very abruptly, for example, due to a home accident such as a fall or for some health reason,” warned the regional director of the National Service for the Elderly (Senama), Eduardo Lara .
